Vajrasattva Retreat
with Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche
We warmly invite you to join us for a special weekend retreat devoted to the practice of Vajrasattva within the Ngondro of the Fivefold Path of Mahamudra as part of our 3 Year program. Under the guidance of Drupon Rinpoche, our precious teacher and Retreat Master, supported by our oral interpreter Virginia Blum, and volunteer support, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to deepen your connection with one of the most powerful methods of purification in the Buddhist tradition. We strongly encourage all participants of the Three Year Fivefold Path of Mahamudra series to attend and all are welcome to attend whether participating in the Three Year program or not.No registration required

The retreat will begin on Friday evening with the Vajrasattva empowerment, opening the door to engage the practice in a grounded and authentic way. On Saturday and Sunday, we will hold four practice sessions each day, allowing us to settle into a rhythm of sustained practice together.
For many in our community, this format may be a little more intensive than our usual programs. Rather than being a challenge, we hope you will see it as an invitation. An immersive retreat environment allows us to temporarily set aside the usual demands and distractions of daily life and enter more fully into the practice. In doing so, we gain direct experience of how a personal retreat can be structured and how the mind begins to change when practice becomes the center of our day.
The Vajrasattva practice is renowned as the most effective skillful means for purifying karmic stains and obscurations. Through confession, resolve, and the power of mantra and visualization, we gently but effectively release the patterns that obscure our natural clarity. As these obscurations are purified, what becomes more apparent is not something newly created, but the buddha nature that has always been present as our ground of being.
Practicing in retreat greatly strengthens this process. Repetition and familiarity allow the meaning of the practice to move beyond the level of concepts and into lived experience. Over the course of multiple sessions, the methods of purification become more natural, confidence grows, and the mind begins to open in ways that are difficult to access amid the busyness of ordinary life. With Drupon present throughout, questions and doubts can be quickly cleared up and resolved.
Ultimately, this practice is not about fixing a flawed self. Rather, it is about purifying our mistaken ideas about who we are and what we are capable of, revealing our authentic potential to be a source of happiness and benefit for ourselves and others.
