The entire month of Saga Dawa is dedicated to honoring the three most significant events in the Buddha's life. The full moon represents the peak of this holy time, an especially auspicious moment for spiritual practice and aspiration prayers.
Schedule:
- Shakyamuni Buddha Practice Sadhana and Mantra
- Recitation of The Twelve Deeds of The Buddha
- The Lamp Offering Prayer
- Personal candle lighting and aspiration prayers
- Closing with dedication prayers and The World Peace Prayer
Participation
In Person: All attendees will have the opportunity to light a butter tea light and offer personal aspiration prayers.
Online: Send us your personal prayers in advance, and we will light a candle on your behalf during the ceremony.
Light Offerings
While you are welcome to make a Lamp Offering and prayer request without making a donation, traditionally the lighting of butter lamps and prayer requests are accompanied by the practice of generosity by making a monetary contribution. This is said to give greater power to the virtue of the prayer and creates a karmic tie on the part of the one making the offering and prayer request.
